Greetings, brothers and sisters in Christ. Today is March 26th, 2023, and on this day in history, many significant events have taken place. However, the one that stands out to me is the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom in 1963.

On that day, over 250,000 people gathered in Washington D.C. to advocate for civil rights and an end to racial discrimination. They listened to speeches from civil rights leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr., who delivered his famous “I Have a Dream” speech.

As we reflect on this historical event, we are reminded of the power of collective action and the importance of speaking out against injustice. The March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom was a pivotal moment in the civil rights movement, and it helped to inspire significant legislative changes in the years that followed.

As Christians, we are called to stand up for what is right, to speak out against injustice and to work towards a more just and equitable world. We are called to love our neighbor as ourselves, to treat others with dignity and respect, and to fight for the oppressed and marginalized.

In his speech, Martin Luther King Jr. said, “We cannot walk alone. And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead. We cannot turn back.” These words are just as relevant today as they were in 1963. We must continue to march forward, to stand up for what is right, and to work towards a better world for all.

So let us pray for the courage to speak out against injustice, the compassion to love our neighbors, and the determination to keep marching forward towards a world where all are treated with dignity and respect. Amen.
