During the time of Jesus, the world used various methods to measure time, depending on the culture and region. The most commonly used method was the solar calendar, which was based on the position of the sun in the sky. The solar calendar was used by the Romans, who had a 7-day week, as well as by the Egyptians and Greeks.

In the Jewish culture, which Jesus was a part of, they used a lunar calendar based on the cycles of the moon. The Jewish calendar also had a 7-day week, which is still used in Jewish tradition to this day. The day of rest, which is observed on Saturday in the Jewish tradition, is known as the Sabbath.

It’s important to note that the modern concept of time and the standardization of timekeeping didn’t exist during the time of Jesus. Instead, time was often measured by the position of the sun or the phases of the moon, and different cultures had their own methods of measuring time. It wasn’t until much later in history that the modern system of timekeeping with hours, minutes, and seconds was developed.
